Objectives
The SNAPSHOT project is designed to improve the emotional well-being and overall quality of life (QoL) of cancer patients and survivors through the therapeutic power of photography. Our core goal is to support individuals as they navigate life beyond cancer, fostering resilience, self-expression, and a renewed sense of connection.
To achieve this, the project aims to:
- Design a tailored therapeutic photography intervention based on theory and scientific evidence, addressing the diverse emotional and psychosocial needs of cancer patients and survivors.
- Implement pilot programmes, both in-person and online, to test the intervention’s practical application across different settings.
- Evaluate the effectiveness and feasibility of these interventions using both qualitative and quantitative approaches, ensuring they are impactful and accessible.
- Create a framework for scaling up, allowing the methodology to be adapted and adopted widely across Europe and beyond.
- Raise awareness about the value of art-based therapies and advocate for their integration into social prescribing practices.
Through these actions, SNAPSHOT seeks to empower cancer survivors by boosting self-esteem, emotional resilience, and interpersonal skills—while also addressing common symptoms such as anxiety, depression, fatigue, and pain. At its heart, the project aims to foster meaningful social reintegration and community building for life after cancer.
